Brian + Melinda | Fall Family Shoot | Honey Brook, PA | November 6, 2016
Let me start this post by saying that this family shoot was one that was VERY special to me. Why, you ask? Well, for one, it was my first time doing an official family photo shoot (what the heck?); but more than that, it also happened to be a shoot for someone I’ve had the pleasure of growing very close to over the last year, and her family too, OF COURSE! My good friend (who also happens to be a co-worker), Melinda, asked me if I’d be up for the challenge of doing some family photos with her, Brian and the kids. She said she had a vision of doing a fall shoot on the street in front of their house, because it is completely lined with trees that have an impressive track record for painting an ideal fall scene on a yearly basis. My response: challenge accepted…also, what challenge?! In my defense, I’ve had the opportunity to meet, hang out and play with all of these kids, so I wasn’t walking into this without prior knowledge of what I was getting myself into – not that it would have swayed my decision one bit. What did I agree to? If you don’t know Kollin, Erik, Bailey & Landon, I’d say you are missing out! These kids are sweet, well-mannered, fun & down for whatever; I guess being cute also helps a bit here and there too. For the record, I guess I should also mention that their parents are pretty awesome people as well. I mean, we all know these qualities MUST come from somewhere. Okay, I was being modest…Melinda and Brian are fantastic people who have treated me like family since the day I met them. I guess this explains why I’m constantly hanging out at their house on the weekends (thanks guys). Though, I will say, I think their dog Jack probably shows me the most hospitality out of the group, but that’s a story for another time. Needless to say, accepting this so-called “challenge” was nothing short of a great decision. There was no shortage of personality during this session, LUCKILY, because that’s what makes me love doing what I do.
The party started with a couple of haystacks and a few miscellaneous pumpkins, like all great parties do. The golden hour was upon us and time was of the essence. With that, I leave you with these — this is what a good time looks like:
Melinda, Brian, Kollin, Erik, Landon & Bailey, thank you SO much for asking me to help capture these moments with you. We definitely covered a lot of ground in a short span of time, but I can’t think of another family who would have been more up for the task than you. I definitely had a blast doing this, and can only hope that you guys found enjoyment outside of the blinding sunlight, awkward poses and forced smiles. It wasn’t that bad, was it? I know I’ll find myself laughing about some of the unforgettable moments for a loooooong time. Thanks for the smiles and the laughs, you guys are truly beautiful people. All the love!
